You are required to visit at least one museum/gallery exhibition over the summer holiday. It is important that you choose an exhibit that somehow relates to your work or that you take interest in.
Do not randomly choose the most convenient exhibition.
In your workbook, include the following:
the name of the gallery/museum
where it is located
the name of the specific exhibition or artist
Describe the exhibition:
What was the theme of the show?
What style of work is it?
What is the medium? etc.
Analyze the work:
Using appropriate art vocabulary ( a list is on artypants@wikispaces.com) describe how the elements and principles of art are used in the work.
Interpret/Judge/Reflect:
What does the work mean to you? What were the artists intentions? Include your personal reflections on the work. Do you like it? Why? How does it connect to your work/style/interests. Does it connect to any other artists you have looked at?
Document:
Take a photo of yourself at the exhibit and include any cards or brochures. Add sketches as well.
I expect this to fill at least 2 full pages.
II.
In writing, brainstorm two ideas for a theme that you would like to develop in your work next year.
This should be presented on a full page each with initial visual research and ideas.
BOTH OF THESE ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE CHECKED OUR FIRST DAY BACK!
